Whilst patrolling the Atlantic the U.S.S. Ulysses, a 688 attack-class submarine, encounter five survivors clinging to a lifeboat hundreds of miles from land. The commander decides to rescue the survivors although in breach of Navy orders. On board they soon take control and the world is held hostage. But one man is determined to do the impossible and save the world from the jaws of a nuclear holocaust.
