Zinda is a film is about a man's quest for freedom and survival. Balajit Roy (Dutt) had all that he ever wanted in life - a promising future, a beautiful wife and a new life in Bangkok, a city that had always fascinated him. Little did he realise that all this was just too good to be true, that somebody was about to erase the next 14 years of his life. In those 14 years, Bala went from civilised human to savage. Suddenly set free, he spends the next 4 days seeking out the truth behind his captivity through the streets and waterways of Bangkok but he slowly comes to realise that his freedom is part of an even more sinister design.
